We’ve found an awesome place in Bacolod City that has the best, cleanest and freshest Kimchi! Head down to Kimchi Master on CL Montelibano street and check out Bacolod City’s first ever Kimchi Factory!

It’s surprising how Filipinos developed a huge appetite for Kimchi. Most Filipinos dislike spicy food but will happily down servings of kimchi when served as side dishes with their favourite samgyupsal.
Kimchi is one of the healthiest food that you can enjoy. It’s primarily made of Chinese Cabbage/Korean Cabbage aka pechay and various other ingredients such as garlic and Korean pepper.
The Kimchi fermentation process introduces the growth of Lactobacilli – a beneficial bacteria that helps protect our digestive system against bad bacteria. Lactobacilli is also found in yogurt and Yakult! Don’t forget, Kimchi is also rich in dietary fiber. Kimchi is a tasty and convenient way for Filipinos to eat more vegetables!
Kimchi Master is owned by Jet Kim, a Korean and his Filipina wife. They brought over to Bacolod City, specialized Kimchi making equipment. They decided to open a Kimchi Factory after seeing Bacolod’s love for Kimchi!
As with many of our awesome food finds, we stumbled upon Kimchi Master totally by chance on one of our walks. We were walking on CL Montelibano road, corner 6th street when we saw that the old warehouse housed the site of Kimchi Master! We popped in, introduced ourselves and Mr. Kim kindly allowed us to look around the factory.
The first thing that we noticed was that the Kimchi Master factory was spotless. It was so clean and all the staff in the production area had hairnets, aprons and proper uniforms. Kimchi master is also fully air conditioned inside! Mr. Kim said that it was so that the quality of Kimchi remains top notch.

Here is Kimchi Master’s Kimchi for sale! They have multiple packages and sizes available. The largest pack one can get at Kimchi Master is the 1 kilo Kimchi which retails for 250 pesos. 500 grams of Kimchi is just 150 pesos. The best deal is the 1 kilo kimchi.
It was our first time to taste clean and freshly made kimchi. The first thing that we noticed was the very different taste! The vegetables were crunchier, and the spices were perfect. Not too spicy and not too sour!
When we asked Mr. Kim why his kimchi tasted so delicious, he said that it was because of the high standard of cleanliness that Kimchi Master practices. We agree! Other locally made Kimchi tastes sour – a sign of improper storage, old stock or bacterial growth.
Kimchi Master also sells Japanese and Korean bento lunch boxes that come with soup and side dishes. They have many kinds to choose from!
We opted to order two lunch boxes and a side dish of TTeokbokki and have them delivered. We got the Pork Tonkatsu and the Chicken Karaage lunch boxes from Kimchi Master.
The bento boxes arrived with a side dish of egg drop soup included. We were very impressed at how the bentos looked. You get an egg, a side of luncheon meat dipped in fried egg, Kimchi master’s signature kimchi and your main dish. Very sulit and totally worth it for just 150 pesos!
One of our favourite Korean foods is Tteokbokki or Korean rice cakes. Kimchi Master’s Tteokbokki is covered in a Korean Cheese sauce that I found to be a bit similar to Kraft’s Macaroni and cheese. My cousin thought it tasted fruity(?) and that the taste reminded him of Lemon chicken.
Kimchi Master’s chicken Karaage bento was similarly set up to the Pork Tonkatsu bento.. The fried chicken was not a whole piece but chopped up, deep fried breaded chicken chunks but overall it was still filling, tasty and a bargain for just 149 pesos.
We highly recommend Kimchi master especially if you’re looking for a supplier of good quality Kimchi in Bacolod City. Check them out now! They have a lot of things on their menu too.
Mr. Kim also told us that pretty soon they will have Korean cabbage grown in the highland farms of Patag. Look forward to a new and interesting flavor of kimchi soon!
