Talisay City: Mamang Rebec Garden Cafe (Awesome curries, biryani and International Food!)

The food scene in Talisay City, Negros Occidental is looking up as a fresh, new player enters the scene. Mamang Rebec Garden cafe is a new cafe that serves awesome salads, curries, biryani and international dishes.

Mamang Rebec Garden Cafe is located at Block 33 Carmela Valley homes. It is located off in a little side street and their instantly recognizable feature is the large tree house in a mango tree. This is an awesome hidden restaurant that we found. We absolutely love it!

The restaurant is cute and simple. Mamang Rebec Garden cafe has open air seating with a large garden. Pick a spot, relax and chill while looking out at the garden. They have little tables and even a small nipa hut if some privacy is desired.

You could also take your meals up in the tree house but this is better reserved for the young and adventurous. The treehouse is a nice cozy nook for young’uns and young at heart to relax and have some alone time.

It’s cool and breezy at Mamang Rebec Garden Cafe.

Our orders soon arrived. What a pretty sight! We had ordered buttersquash soup, Kani Salad, Chicken Biryani, and Beef Masala.

Squash soup is a favourite Filipino comfort food. Mamang Rebec garden cafe has a good squash soup at 70 php.

We were thrilled to see that the Beef Masala was top notch. The Masala was pleasantly spicy and had all the proper spices such as cardamom and cinnamon bark. Very fragrant and very delicious. It came with pita bread, some yogurt sauce and some chili sauce.

We got an order of Chicken Biryani. Absolutely incredible with 100% REAL Basmati long grain rice. There was absolutely no cutting corners with this dish. All the spices such as cardamoms, cinnamon bark, bay leaves and sultanas were there and it came with large pieces of chicken (buried somewhere under all under the basmati in this picture.) Good for two. Very generous.

Very nice, one of the best Biryani dishes on Negros Island. Highly recommended.

The Kani Salad came with generous strips of crabmeat and plenty of tomatoes and lettuce. Generous portion, good for two people. The crabmeat is a bit sweetish.

Here’s the menu for Mamang Rebec’s Garden Cafe. Absolutely wonderful place. We will be back soon to try more of their delicious dishes. Highly recommended for people in Talisay who have guests and want to try something new, exotic and delicious.

There’s also plenty to drink – they’ve got soda, beer, juices and a lot more stuff. The drink menu is still under development so we will be sure to report back when they update their drink menu.
