Looking for Brick oven pizza? Try Cafe Saira Bacolod, a tiny pizzeria that serves great pizza baked in a pugon, a traditional wood fired oven!
Cafe Saira Bacolod is a small store located on Santa Ana street, Eroreco Subdivision Bacolod City. Barangay Mandalagan. It is easy to miss as the sign that they use is made of wood and dark in color. Another sign is on their roof but its hard to read.

When you get to Cafe Saira, you can distinctly see the clay/firebrick oven that they use. Cafe Saira is one of the few places in Bacolod that serve brick oven pizzas. Wood is placed inside a brick oven, lit and the pizza is placed beside it.

What’s so special about brick oven pizza? Brick oven pizzas cook faster than pizzas cooked in a regular oven because the temperature can get pretty high. There’s also a hands-on approach when cooking in a brick oven pizza. The baker must ensure that he constantly monitors and turns the pizza in order for the heat to equally cook the pizza.
Finally the most special thing about a brick oven pizza is its taste. The smokey flavor that comes from the wood gives brick oven pizza its distinct characteristics.

Cafe Saira Bacolod has several kinds of brick oven pizzas. The most popular flavor is the “Earthquake pizza” which is a combination of several toppings like olives, sausage and pepperoni.

Cafe Saira Bacolod is quick in serving their pizzas. Our pizza was done in about 15 minutes. The pizza was perfectly baked, with plenty of mozzarella cheese and toppings. All in all, the pizza was good, a bit rough around the edges since it was homemade.
Cafe Saira Bacolod has only three sizes for its pizza. They have a personal pizza for 99 pesos, 10 inch pizzas for about 280-300 pizzas and 14 inch pizzas for 399+ pesos. If you’re dining alone, the ten inch pizza is perfect for you. Cafe Saira’s pizza is very filling.
There’s an interesting video on why you should always order the biggest size of pizza instead of ordering one small pizza for each diner:

We’re happy that Cafe Saira Bacolod has one of our favourite flavors – Shrimp and Garlic pizza!
The shrimp and garlic pizza is a delicious combination that everyone should try at least once. The shrimp goes very well with the mozzarella cheese and the garlic gives the pizza a burst of flavor. Shrimp and Garlic pizza looks very simple, but that’s okay with us. We like simple pizzas because we feel that each ingredient’s taste can really come out.
