There’s a great place to study, read and relax in Bacolod City and it’s 100% free – Check out the Provincial Library of Negros Occidental!
This awesome place is perfect for students on a budget – no need to spend on expensive coffee shops

The Provincial Library opens its doors from 8am -5pm Mondays to Fridays.
The interior of the Library is clean, well lit and cool – literally as there is air conditioning. The most popular section of the library is the area with the sofas because it is right next to the periodical section.
There are all sorts of magazines and newspapers that range from local ones to nationwide publications.
For reading and studying there are a lot of tables and chairs that big groups can use. Just be quiet and respectful of the other patrons.
The study areas in the Provincial Library of Negros Occidental have beautiful, large porthole windows that let in plenty of light. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, but if you arrive first and find that other people also want to use the tables, please be considerate and share!
They have a gorgeous childrens section with playmats, toys, children’s books and reading corner!
Let’s take a look at the books. The books are mostly academical books with a large emphasis on Philippine works and Philippine authors which is a good thing! There are books about Philippine Culture and History including some very rare ones that are now out of print. There are also textbooks on nursing and sciences.
The shelves are all stacked and organized neatly – the library is very clean. My favourite section is the Filipiniana area. They have rare and exciting books about the flora and fauna of the Philippines, arts and Film, History, everything about the Philippines!
The gem of the library, books on the history of negros occidental!
This super rare book documents the resistance movement in Negros Occidental! A fascinating read!
There are also numerous reference materials that one can use for research. You have to do research “analog” style which means using the card catalog to look up the book that you want to read.
There’s also an e-library where you can make use of the computers to look up information.
The Provincial Library of Negros Occidental is a good place to read, study and relax. You don’t have to spend a lot hanging out at coffee shops and other places. – It’s nice to see that our local Government has this facility prepared for students, members of the academe and just about everybody!

Hi, good evening I would like to ask if are you open to all people who would like to visit in Provincial Library? I wanted to read about psychology.
Yes but sadly it’s smaller now and remodeled
