BFH: Good afternoon po! Bert could you please give a short introduction about yourself and why are you called the Philippine Superman?
HC: I’m Herbert Chavez 36 yrs old kilala bilang pinoy superman. Nakilala bilang Superman ng pilipinas dahil sa pagkilala ng ibat ibang media dito sa ating bansa pati na din sa ibang bansa.
Kinilala sa National Geo at Guinness book of world records bilang pinaka madaming koleksyon ng Superman. Kaunaunahang taong bilang man made superman.
Hindi ipinanganak na kamukha ni superman pero nagawang baguhin ang ichura para maging kamukha ng man of steel.
BFH: How did it start, your fascination with superman?
HC: 4 yrs old ako mahilig na ako sa superman sya ang unang movie na naalala ko na superhero. Napapaniginipan ko na ako yung batang Clark kent na bumubuhat ng kotse.
Hanggang sa paglaki ko nadala ko na ang pag idolo kay superman.
BFH: I remember we talked once about you asking your dad for a superman costume but he bought you a batman costume by mistake!
HC: Yes mahirap lang kami probinsya pa kaya malayo sa Maynila wala pang Sm Calamba ang pinaka malapit na Sm ay Makati.
Nagpapabili ako ng costume ng Superman. Mukhang naloko ng tindera sa palengke ang dadi ko at batman ang naibigay akala din nila noon si Superman at Batman ay iisa palibhasa parehong super hero haha!
BFH: You also design fashionable clothes and costumes as your primary job. Did being famous help you get a lot of clients? Who is your most famous client to date?
HC: Hindi ko naman iniisip na sikat ako ang lagi ko isinasaisip ay sikat yung charakter na ginagampanan ko. Siyempre malaki ang naitulong nito sa business lalu na sa pag imbita nila sa akin o guesting bilang superman na nagiging dagdag pinagkakakitaan ko po now…nadamitan ko na po si Charise pempengco, Ai Ai De Las Alas, Shaina Magdayao, Andi Aigenman at madami pang iba.
BFH: You also have an amazing collection of Superman items, You’ve practically turned your house into an amazing superman shrine!
HC: Opo, kasi bata pa ako pinangarap ko ng magkaroon ng ganung bahay na kasama ko si Superman araw araw.
BFH: Are you going to bulk up so as to look more like Henry Cavill?
HC: Yes nag gym na ako pero namamayat ako tuwing nag cocostume ako kasi ang init ng costume ko parang nag sa sauna lagi kaya ubos pawis kaya nakaka payat! Hahaha!
BFH: Can you tell us about any fun or memorable experiences with your kid fans? I heard that a young fan snuck off to see you perform and he got backstage to talk with you!
HC: Yah tinanaong ako kung ako yung tunay na superman hindi ko alaman kung mag sisisnungaling ba ako o pano… tapos di pa daw nya napanood yung movie kasi kulang ang pera nilang pang sine hahaha di naman sinabi na walang pera pero kulang.

BFH: Finally what do you think is superman’s favorite food?
HC: Ngayon favorite ko red hotdog ng Purefoods kasi may free na superman or Jolibee kasi may free superman toy! Hahaha!

BFH: Good afternoon po! Bert could you please give a short introduction about yourself and why are you called the Philippine Superman?
HC: I’m Herbert Chavez 36 yrs old. I’m known for being the Philippine Superman. I’ve been recognized by the media such as the Guinness world records for the person having the biggest superman collection. The first “man-made superman.” A person who wasn’t born looking like superman but was able to change his face to look like the man of steel.
BFH: How did it start, your fascination with superman?
HC: I was four years old. I liked Superman a lot. He was the first superhero I remember seeing in the movies. I would dream that I was Clark Kent lifing a car. Since then I remained a fan and Superman was my Idol until now that I’ve all grown up.
BFH: I remember we talked once about you asking your dad for a superman costume but he bought you a batman costume by mistake!
HC: Yew e were very poor and we lived in the country side back then far from Manila and the SM malls. I begged my Dad for a superman costume. He got me a batman costume by mistake! Back then they thought that superman and batman were the same because they were both superheroes!
BFH: You also design fashionable clothes and costumes as your primary job. Did being famous help you get a lot of clients? Who is your most famous client to date?
HC: I’ve never thought that I was famous. It’s the character whom I portray THATS famous, not me. It’s helped a lot in my business because I get invited to events and that’s a little extra money. I’ve dressed Charise Pempempengco, Ai ai delas Alas, Andi Eigenman and many more.

BFH: You also have an amazing collection of Superman items, You’ve practically turned your house into an amazing superman shrine!
HC: Back when I was a boy I dreamed of living a hosue where I could be with Superman every day.
BFH: Are you going to bulk up so as to look more like Henry Cavill?
HC: Yes I’ve been going to the gym but whenever I wear the suit it’s so hot like a sauna so I lose a lot of weight.
BFH: Can you tell us about any fun or memorable experiences with your kid fans? I heard that a young fan snuck off to see you perform and he got backstage to talk with you!
HC: Yes this boy was asking If I was the real superman. I didn’t know if I would tell him the truth or tell a lie. Then he mentioned that he hadn’t seen the newest movie yet because his mother said they didn’t have enough money.
(Herbert then gave the fan some money to watch the new superman movie!)
BFH: Finally what do you think is superman’s favorite food?
HC: I like Purefoods Red hotdog or Jollibee because they come with superman toys!
