A restaurant and bar that is full of love and where the students are treated like family? It’s the amazing Glaciers Bar and Restaurant! They’re located in Unit 1 and 2, the Heritage Dormitory – CL Montelibano Avenue beside the University of Saint La Salle.
Many influencers have talked about this place, but we usually go by our own FRIENDS experiences rather than what influencers say. Our friend Mark M, of Global Strategic Recruitment, told us this restaurant was surprisingly good. And if you’re wondering how we find the places we write about, it’s often from recommendations by our foodie friends. ![]()

It’s easy to overlook Glacier’s Bar and Restaurant, tucked away on the ground floor of a student dormitory amid other student dining spots. At first glance, it may appear like your typical student hangout.
The layout is like a diner with the red cushioned seats. There’s mini sofas too. Everywhere you look there are students curled up like cats.

As we checked the menu, we were pleased to find a variety of affordable international dishes. The owner’s Indian heritage is evident in the emphasis on Indian cuisine. They also offer steak, pizza, pasta, and cocktails, but it’s important to note that they only serve alcoholic drinks in the evening after the students have left.

With nearly a hundred items on the menu, you might wonder if they can maintain quality with such variety. We’re happy to report that despite the extensive options, the food is quite good.
We ordered 7 items and each one was quite enjoyable
Pad Thai: A new addition to their menu, highly recommended.

Pizza: We opted for spinach pizza as they were out of bacon.

Buttered Chicken: Served generously with a big cup of steamed basmati rice, highly recommended.

Dessert Toast with Ice Cream: The matcha flavor was a delightful surprise. We initially refused it because why would we pay for toasted bread but after trying it, it quickly became one of our favorites.

Mango Lassi and Berry Lassi: These yogurt drinks are made in-house with homemade yogurt!

Chicken Stuffed with Cheese and Spinach.
Jasmine Milk Tea.
Pad Krapao Gai: Another popular Thai dish among Filipinos. ![]()

Paneer – a fried cheese dish!

The food is not only affordable but surprisingly delicious, a fact not immediately evident given the large student clientele.
We shared our experience with our friend Mark, who was eagerly waiting to hear our thoughts. We described Glacier’s as a safe place for kids to try and experience
world cuisine but there is enough depth and sophistication for even the most experienced diner.
When was the last time you heard of students craving Indian buttered chicken in Bacolod? It’s quite unusual and yet this is the best selling dish at Glaciers! ![]()

What truly sets Glaciers Bar and Restaurant apart are the owner and the elderly waitress. The owner is actively involved, incredibly kind, and attentive to the student patrons. The waitress has a warm, motherly presence, almost like a grandmother. ![]()

Both of them treat the students like family, engaging in conversation, sharing jokes, and inquiring about their day. It’s these small gestures that make Glaciers special. While the place may have initially aimed at an upscale crowd as a bar, it has instead won the hearts of the students, building a loyal following. ![]()
