Intrigued, we asked him where it was located and set off on a Saturday afternoon to find the best puto in Bacolod City.

Manapla is a town in Bacolod that is famous for its puto. As you drive by Manapla, you will see vendors standing at the side of the highway, selling their puto. We always thought that this puto wasn’t all that special. So you can imagine our excitement when our friend claimed that Nepomuceno’s Original Manapla Puto is the best, despite the presence of other bakeries also making puto in Bacolod.

Nepomuceno’s Original Manapla Puto is located at #22 Santa Ana Street, Barangay 30, Bacolod City. It is right in front of Barangay 30’s Health Center and on the same street as the Mosque or Masjid. The contact number is 0939-935-6481. Call in advance for guaranteed orders.

The exterior is an ordinary house. You can easily miss the store. Ring the bell and tell the lady that you’re here to pick up your orders. Right off the bat, when we laid eyes on their display case, we could tell that this was really special puto.

The owner, an elderly lady, gave us our orders. We noticed that the puto were bigger and heavier than normal puto. Wow!

We got home, opened up the packs, and arranged them on a plate. The puto is thick and chunky, and there are 10 pieces to a pack. We got the ube and cheese flavors.

The ube puto has actual ube jam and shredded coconut in it! Wow! The cheese puto has plenty of cheese and totally knocks the competition out of the park.

Right beside the house is their carinderia, where, if you’re early – you can get their specialty! Dinuguan! Paired with their really good cheese puto – this is an absolute dream!
