Chino’s Wok is a tiny restaurant with only four tables inside. It can get very crowded, so it’s best to call ahead for reservations.

The interior of Chino’s Wok is beautifully decorated with Thai decorations. The center stage of the restaurant is the beautiful counter, which is filled with all sorts of knickknacks from Thailand, Thai medicines, and menu items.

Beautiful Thai Decorations and Art!

Chino’s Wok 6100 also has an assortment of Thai herbal ointments and balms. A friend of ours swears by their herbal inhalers, which are good to use when you have a cold. It’s nice to know that you can buy these in Bacolod city!

We bought a container of Hong Thai inhaler. Hong Thai herbal inhaler is a traditional Thai product that is made with a blend of 15 different herbs, including eucalyptus, camphor, menthol, and borneol. It is used to relieve nasal congestion, headache, dizziness, motion sickness, and stress.

We thought that it would be an ointment, kind of like Vicks Vaporub but it actually has a mesh covering inside. You’re supposed to inhale the vapors through the mesh. Don’t make the mistake that we made and also open the mesh!

The owners of Chino’s Wok 6100 previously worked in Thailand, where they enjoyed the food so much that they decided to bring it back to Bacolod City. We enjoyed chatting with them and learning about the challenges of bringing Thai food to the Philippines. For example, did you know that our local sparrows love chili peppers? Birds do not have spicy/capsaicin receptors in their tongues, so the owner of Chino’s Wok said that she would be excited to harvest a crop of ripe chili peppers, only to find out that the birds had eaten them all!

We ordered a good representative of the Thai food on their menu.

Green thai chicken curry, Green Papaya Salad, Jasmine Milk tea, Jasmine Tea (sugar free), Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Tom Yum Rice

Filipinos enjoy pad thai, a stir-fried noodle dish from Thailand that has similar flavors to many Filipino dishes. Pad thai is super popular in Bacolod City. Like all dishes at Chino’s Wok 6100, you can request to have the spiciness level reduced to a more comfortable level.

A delicious plate of pad thai from Chino’s Wok 6100. Choose your protein (chicken or shrimp) and enjoy the stir-fried noodles, vegetables and crunchy peanuts.

If you love Thai green curry, you should try the curry at Chino’s Wok 6100. They serve it in a small pot filled with deliciously aromatic chicken, chilies, and vegetables. It goes perfectly with the rice at Chino’s Wok 6100!

The rice that you should definitely order when you’re at Chino’s Wok is their Tom Yum Rice. If you’re already a fan of Tom Yum Goong – it’s a famous Thai soup. Tom Yum Rice is a Thai dish that combines the flavors of tom yum soup with fried rice. It is typically made with jasmine rice, tom yum paste, shrimp, vegetables, and herbs. The rice is cooked in a wok or large frying pan with the tom yum paste and other ingredients until it is heated through and the flavors have melded.

You can literally have your soup and eat it in this dish!

One of our favorite Salads is Thai Green Papaya Salad and Chino’s Wok 6100 has an excellent thai green papaya salad. It’s called Som Tum. Several thai restaurants in Bacolod City also serve this salad but Chino’s Wok is one of the best ones.

Thai green papaya salad (Som Tum) is a popular Thai salad made with shredded green papaya, chili peppers, tomatoes, peanuts, and a variety of other ingredients. It is a refreshing and flavorful salad that is often served as a starter or side dish.

It’s pretty Similar to several papaya dishes in the Philippines so request this to be mildly spicy for a delicious spicy kick that will break the monotony of the slightly sweetish vinegar. Healthy and absolutely filling!

For dessert, try sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut cream! The natural flavor of mango is further enhanced by the tasty, sweet coconut milk that they lovingly drizzle over the mangoes.

Cool down with a delicious refreshing drink! Chino’s Wok has assorted thai beers, Sodas and teas! Don’t pass up on their delicious Jasmine milk tea. If sugar is an issue, you can request a sugar free version that’s equally tasty.

For a familiar taste, try their Thai Milk tea. This is sweet, sultry and tasty! A popular Thai taste that most Filipinos are familiar with. Thai tea is getting popular in Bacolod City for its strong but delicious flavor.

The owner of Chino’s Wok was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. We also wanted to grow our Kaffir lime because a lot of thai dishes use a lot of that lemony, peppery leaf in their thai dishes. Sad to say, thrips and mites also like the taste of kaffir lime and kill the leaves. Maybe next time we visit we can ask for her tips on growing Kaffir Lime in Bacolod City!

We enjoyed our visit to Chino’s Wok 6100. Be sure to call ahead of time because the restaurant fills up pretty quickly. They’re also available for deliveries! Contact them to find out their preferred delivery courier. They deliver almost anywhere in Bacolod City
