Sm Bacolod’s: Negros Gourmet Experience

SM Bacolod is currently holding a foodie event – The first Negros Gourmet Experience which runs from june 12-14. The event was set up in the north wing parking lot (outside Krispy Kreme)  and it was a lot of fun! The organizers really made sure that the area is fun and conducive to dining.

There were booths set up and selling food.  The exhibitors were popular pizza chains such as Yellow Cab and Sbarro, C’s and Chicken Deli, a shawarma joint named Saddam’s Shawarma, Chifa – a Peruvian-Asian fusion resturant and popular bars Txacho, Gorka, Timeout, Sage and Homegrown bar -a bar serving locally brewed beer.

All their food was really great – Chifa had awesome sandwiches, Timeout had their famous butterfly spareribs and Gorka had wanton noodles – surprisingly good.

Gorka had these noodles that look like your typical street food noodles but the flavor and the texture of the noodles are really great. Surprising!

For me the best food was to be found at Txacho where they served Txistorra – Spanish sausage, Tortilla de patatas, Jamon Serrano and their famous paella. Regular and Squid Ink Paella.

Tortilla de patatas – My favourite.

Paella Negra! Happy Independence day!

Today (June 14) is the last day of their event so hurry and check out the event!  For those who can’t make it – Don’t worry. SM promises that they’ll make this a regular event.
